SMS Compliance

SMS Consent & Verification Messaging

Miles uses SMS only for transactional account verification and login security. We do not send promotional or marketing SMS messages.

Consent Scope

SMS consent is collected separately and applies only to verification codes requested by the user.

Miles sign-up screen showing an unchecked SMS verification consent checkbox before sending a code.

How SMS Consent Is Collected

Users explicitly agree before a verification code is sent.

Users enter their phone number during Miles sign-up or login. Before receiving a verification code, users are shown a separate SMS consent disclosure. The user must explicitly agree before a verification message is sent.

Disclosure Text

I agree to receive SMS verification codes from Miles for account authentication and login. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out.

Example Opt-In Workflow

The phone screen shown above documents the opt-in step.

The checkbox in the sign-up screen is visibly unchecked, separate from the phone number field, and must be selected before Miles sends a verification code.

  1. 1The user starts sign-up or login and enters a phone number.
  2. 2Miles shows a separate SMS consent disclosure next to an unchecked checkbox.
  3. 3The user explicitly checks the box to agree to receive verification codes.
  4. 4Miles sends a transactional OTP only after that consent action.
